Today’s episode pulls back the curtain on my (Amanda’s) real life—two young kids, a newborn, newborn feeding, toddler chaos—and the journey I’m on to redefine “good enough” in parenting, podcasting, and self-care. Expect candid stories, a real-life peek behind the scenes, and tools for you to shift from perfectionism to sustainable self‑care.
Here’s some things this episode touches on:
I share how my perfectionism used to demand polished, perfect podcast episodes—and how motherhood and coaching helped me realize: sometimes, good enough is good enough. This isn’t settling—it’s honoring biological limits and teaching your nervous system safety through self-compassion.
I dive into the unedited “survival mode” episode that went out with mic snaps, toddler noises, and zero polish. Instead of shame, I chose honesty. We unpack the shame cycle—why we hide—and how transparency actually strengthens trust and rewires nervous system hyper‑vigilance.
We talk about the neuroscience of repetition, integration over info, and shifting from passive listening to embodied change.
Labels matter. Replacing “anxious” with “activated” and “depressed” with “shut down” shifts meaning. You reclaim agency. Instead of an eternal identity (“I’m an anxious person”), it becomes a state (“I’m activated right now—and my system can steer back”). It’s a reframing tool rooted in polyvagal awareness.
